VOLLEYBALL NT
Volleyball NT is a volunteer-run organization and is the governing body for all volleyball activities in the Northwest Territories.
Our mission is to grow and develop volleyball across the Northwest Territories to enable all residents to enjoy, participate and excel in the Game.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITIONS
Selecting the appropriate coaching staff is the first step to ensure that Team NT players get the most out of their experience at the 2020 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG).
The 2020 NAIG Coaching Staff are responsible for identification, selection and development of their respective 2020 NAIG Teams.
COACHING STAFF SELECTION CRITERIA
- Current member of the VNT in good standing
- Past coaching and playing experience
- Head & Assistant Coaches must be Competition Introduction – Volleyball Development Coach – Trained Status
- Desire and intent to continue within the coaching certification program. Coaching certification must be completed no later than ninety (90) days before the opening of the Games
- Completion of the Aboriginal Coaching Module
- Must be available for ALL selection and training camps
- Current criminal record check with vulnerable sector check (contact your local RCMP for details) – to be supplied with application
- Commitment to implement the NAIG program and abide by policies and procedures set forth by the Volleyball NT
- Must be above the age of 18
- Demonstrable knowledge of the game
In selecting NAIG coaches, Volleyball NT may consider assessments of current and past coaching performance.
DUTIES OF THE COACH
- Act as an appropriate role model and chaperone, as identified by Volleyball NT’s policies and procedures, at all times on and off the court
- Oversee the training and preparation of NAIG athletes
- Ensure communication with athletes, parents and Volleyball NT is prompt and effective throughout the NAIG process
- Be prepared to work as a team with their coaching colleagues in the lead-up to and during NAIG, attending all meetings where required
COACHES RESPONSIBILITIES
- Abiding by the terms of the contract signed prior to the NAIG
- Being prepared, present and focused at all selection camps
- Attending meetings where applicable
- At all other times, ensuring communication with athletes, parents and Volleyball NT is prompt and effective
- Using the Volleyball NT Athlete Evaluation Form to identify players/alternates for Team NT
- Maintaining confidentiality of all evaluation forms and transferring them to Volleyball NT
- Coordinating fundraising initiatives and managing the team’s budget (for team managers)
